What You'll Learn
The USCCA Defensive Pistol course is a practical, real-world handgun program focused on personal protection. This class is built to develop safe, efficient, and repeatable gun-handling skills that directly apply to everyday concealed carry and home defense. Develop safe and efficient handgun handling under realistic conditions
Build confidence using the handgun you actually carry day-to-day
Learn defensive fundamentals that hold up under stress
Improve decision-making tied to real-world defensive scenarios
Train with realistic carry gear, holsters, and setups—not range-only equipment
Understand how fundamentals translate to personal protection, not just marksmanship
Students are encouraged to attend with the handgun, holster, and gear they most commonly carry, as training emphasizes practical application, realism, and reliability when it matters most.
Round count will be approximately 750 rounds.
Cancellation Policy: To provide the highest quality training experience, course schedules, instructor assignments, and range resources are planned well in advance. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with the following policy. Student Cancellations: More than 14 days before the course: Students may cancel and receive a full refund or transfer their registration to another available course. Less than 14 days before the course: No refunds will be issued. Students may transfer to another course one time, subject to availability. No Shows: Students who fail to attend without prior notification forfeit their course tuition. Course Cancellations by the Training Organization: Courses may be canceled or rescheduled due to insufficient enrollment, severe weather, range availability, instructor illness, or other unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled by the training organization, students may choose to: Transfer to another available course at no additional cost, or Receive a full refund of their course tuition. The training organization is not responsible for travel expenses, lodging, ammunition, equipment costs, or other incidental expenses incurred by students. Weather Policy: Courses will generally proceed as scheduled unless conditions create an unsafe training environment. Students will be notified as soon as practical if a course must be postponed due to weather. Student Responsibility Students are responsible for ensuring they meet all course prerequisites and arrive with the required equipment listed in the course description. Failure to meet prerequisites or bring required equipment does not qualify for a refund. Emergency Exceptions: We understand that emergencies happen. Requests for exceptions due to medical emergencies, family emergencies, military deployment, or other extraordinary circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the training organization. Students who fail to notify within the required timeframe and do not attend the class will not receive a refund. No refunds will be issued once the class has been attended

Defensive Pistol Program
The Defensive Pistol Program (DPP) is a comprehensive, multi-level training curriculum designed to equip students with the necessary skills to effectively and responsibly defend themselves. With its unique focus on skill development, objective and performance-based training, and adaptability to individual skill levels, DPP differentiates itself amidst a competitive landscape of individual trainers, local shooting ranges, and national organizations current training offerings. Topics covered include fundamentals of defensive marksmanship, drawing from the holster, balance of speed and precision, defensive response, malfunctions and single-handed shooting, and orientation and movement.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
This course is designed for serious students who want skills they can rely on—not just drills they can pass. Train with the gear you trust, focus on fundamentals, and leave with tools you can apply immediately in your daily life. If you are interested in becoming a USCCA Certified Defensive Handgun Instructor, you must first take this end-user version of the class.
