What You'll Learn

Defensive Pistol & Rifle Applications – 2‑Day Course

This intensive 2‑day course is designed for responsible, vetted gun owners who want to integrate defensive pistol and rifle skills into one cohesive fighting platform. Students will learn to run both weapons efficiently, transition between them under pressure, and apply sound tactics, all while maintaining strict safety standards.

Course Focus Over two days, students will work through structured drills that emphasize:

Firearms safety, mindset, and gear setup for defensive use

Fundamentals at speed: stance, grip, sighting systems, trigger control, and recoil management

Efficient draw stroke from the holster, emergency and tactical pistol reloads, and malfunction clearance

Defensive rifle manipulations: ready positions, presentation, reloads, and stoppage drills

Pistol‑to‑rifle and rifle‑to‑pistol transitions under time pressure and from realistic positions

Use of cover and concealment, barricade work, and positional shooting (standing, kneeling, seated, prone)

Distance management: typical handgun distances out to 25 yards and rifle engagements out to 100+ yards (range‑dependent)

Movement: lateral and angular movement off the line of attack, shooting on the move when appropriate

Decision‑making and problem‑solving through structured, scenario‑based drills

This is a working class, not a basic marksmanship course. Expect a fast pace, detailed coaching, and a focus on applying skills, not just punching paper.

Student Requirements Qualifications Students must possess a valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) or state‑issued concealed carry permit equivalent.

Students must already understand basic safe gun‑handling and be familiar with the operation of their pistol and carbine.

This is not a first‑time shooter course.

Required Equipment Pistol: Modern double‑stack semi‑automatic pistol (9mm or larger, reputable manufacturer) suitable for defensive carry.

Carbine: Modern carbine (SBRs and “pistols” welcome) equipped with a sighting system (red dot or LPVO preferred) and a quality 2‑point sling.

Magazines:

Minimum of 3 pistol magazines

Minimum of 3 carbine magazines

Holster and pouches:

Strong‑side belt holster for the pistol with good retention, that fully covers the trigger guard and allows safe one‑handed reholstering

No Blackhawk SERPA holsters and no Sig P320 pistols permitted

At least 2 pistol magazine pouches

A sturdy belt capable of supporting pistol, holster, and magazines

Protective gear:

Eye protection (clear and/or tinted, as conditions require)

Ear protection (electronic hearing protection strongly recommended)

Brimmed hat, weather‑appropriate clothing, and sturdy closed‑toe footwear

Gloves (optional but recommended for extended rifle work)

Other:

Note‑taking materials

Water, snacks, sunscreen/bug spray, and any necessary medications

Ammunition 500 rounds of pistol ammunition

500 rounds of carbine ammunition

These are maximum round counts; most students should expect to take some ammunition home.

Range and Administrative Notes All firearms must arrive unloaded and cased; do not uncase or handle firearms until instructed to do so on the line.

A comprehensive safety and medical briefing will be conducted at the start of Day 1.

The class will run in most weather conditions; come prepared for sun, rain, heat, or cold as appropriate for the season.

Instructors reserve the right to remove any student from live fire who cannot safely manage their firearm or follow instructions.

Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
