What You'll Learn
WHO: Dorchester Gun Shop proudly serves Michigan and beyond! From firearm sales to training, we offer a personalized experience both on an individual or group basis. This Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals (CCHDF) class, when successfully completed, will allow you to obtain your Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
WHAT: As former military, 2A supporters, and CPL holders since the early 2000's, we have the experience and knowledge to provide the necessary training and information needed to protect yourself from a would-be attacker. We offer group classes on the first Sunday of every month (or the following Sunday after a holiday weekend). Individual classes are available for those that prefer something more private. We continually strive to EXCEED ALL OF OUR CUSTOMER'S EXPECTATIONS!
WHERE: Class and shooting qualification will take place in Clarkston. Range fees are included in the cost of your class. We will also have practice drills with SIRT pistols and a computer simulator using a recoil simulated pistol, which is identical to the look, feel, and function of a real firearm! You will swear it's real! After practice simulation, you will qualify with live fire utilizing your own pistol. We will break for 30 minutes (around noon) to allow everyone to leave and get lunch if they didn't bring their own. You may eat and drink throughout this class.
WHEN: Group classes are typically scheduled on the first Sunday of every month, unless its a holiday or holiday weekend and will be held the following week. Class size is limited to 24 students. Individual classes are offered as well for an additional charge.
CPL RENEWAL INFORMATION ONLY: If you are looking to get your 3 hours of classroom review in order to renew your existing CPL for the state of Michigan, you may attend this class from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT MICHIGAN CPL - OR ONE THAT HAS BEEN EXPIRED FOR NO LONGER THAN 12 MONTHS IN ORDER TO TAKE OUR RENEWAL COURSE!
If your CPL has been expired for longer than 12 months, you MUST take the 1-Day, 8-Hour Concealed Carry Class and reapply as a new application. This is the new law followed by the Michigan State Police.

This means that you are on a “wait list” if you cancel/no show and must wait for an opening, as previous paid students who have paid for a future class come first. No more than one cancellation or no show is allowed and class must be taken within one year of purchase. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ONCE A SEAT HAS BEEN PAID FOR AND RESERVED, OR, AFTER SECOND CLASS CANCELLATION OR NO-SHOW. AFTER A SECOND CANCELLATION OR NO-SHOW, YOU WILL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE AND PAY FOR ANOTHER CLASS AND EACH CANCELLATION/NO-SHOW IS REVIEWED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS FOR CONSIDERATION TO BE RESCHEDULED. Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive classroom course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. If you are new to handguns, this is a great introduction to everything you need to know to start your self-protection journey.
This course is a complete guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. After this class, students will feel confident to act as their family’s first line of defense in the event of a home invasion or other critical incident.
