At OpSec, we believe in a progressive, step-by-step approach to firearms training. Whether you’re brand new to shooting or have handled a firearm before without formal training, we meet you where you are and build you up with purpose and precision.

This is a 4-hour basic course is for acquiring the Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL). This course will cover State Firearm Law, Home Firearm Safety, Live fire exercise on the range, Handgun mechanisms and operation, Operation and Handling Demonstration, Handgun and ammo provided by the Instructor. The HQL is required to purchase a handgun in Maryland.
Fingerprints will have to be acquired following completion of the course. HQL application will be completed online on the Maryland State Police website

Instructional portion will be via Zoom or in person and then the live fire portion will be at an indoor range.
Introduction to firearm safety and basic shooting. This course will provide instruction on proper grip, stance, sight alignment, site picture, trigger control, engaging the target and follow through / recovery.
Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. The course is a complete guide to understanding conflict avoidance and situational awareness; home security and home defense; handgun, shotgun and AR-15 basics; shooting fundamentals; the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a complete guide on gear, gadgets, and ongoing training.
Training for Real Estate Professionals in the event they find themselves in a dangerous or threatening situation while showing a home or running an Open House alone.
This course satisfies the requirement for the Maryland Handgun Permit and will cover State Firearm Law, Handgun mechanisms and operation and a live-fire qualification test that requires the applicant to score a minimum of 70%. Failure to qualify will result in failure of the course and a live-fire re-test will be required. Handgun and ammo provided by the Instructor.
Training for Professionals in the event they find themselves in a dangerous or threatening situation while engaging in their daily activites from commuting to the office, being in their work space, meeting with a client or simply being out and about. Training topics include Situational Awareness, How Stress Affects The Body, Mindset And Defensive Strategies, Defensive Options, and Emergency First Aid.

Re-qualification for the Maryland Handgun Permit.
Combining the OpSec Firearm Training Course (our intro to shooting) with our OpSec Maryland Handgun Qualification Course to better prepare you to handle, use and own a firearm. Courses can be taken consecutively on the same day or on seperate days with the 2 included range sessions to be scheduled in accordance with range hours and lane availability.
These pre-paid sessions will be scheduled in accordance with range hours and lane availability. OpSec believes that repetition builds competence. These sessions are offered to give our students comprehensive shooting practice with an instructor in order to build a excellent foundation as well as build the neural pathways to ensure they will learn and employ the fundamentals of shooting with every squeeze of the trigger.
