What You'll Learn

Children’s Firearms & Safety Fundamentals course is a FAMILY course. This means you can attend this course with the intention of passing on what you have learned to your children, OR, you can attend with them.

It is a comprehensive guide designed to address the topic of firearms and safety with kids of all ages, (as young and 3 and up - customizable due to age and maturity of the child) and to provide a positive, welcoming, and fun learning experience for youth – all while promoting the safe, responsible and ethical use of firearms.

This course provides the information and the skills you need for you, the parent, and for the young people with whom you share this – to be more confident, capable and safe with firearms.

This class in its entirety, covers the following topics, and takes 10 to 12 hours to complete. I will call you after you have signed up for part one and we will pick those modules that you feel best apply to you and your family.

Note that part 1 will take roughly 6 hours to complete. We can mix and match these modules to fit your needs. If you want to carry on with other modules and firearms disciplines, we can get you scheduled for any or all of the remaining modules of the class after you complete part 1.

The Fundamental Safety Lecture - this is a 3-hour seminar geared specifically towards the adults in a child’s life - whether that be parents/guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends, etc. This portion of the class covers three important facets of safety:

  • Education » How, when and what parents should teach children about firearms safety
  • Prevention » Dispel myths surrounding firearms, look deeper into hospitalization data and preventable tragedies, and discuss safe firearms storage options
  • Action » Review and discuss realistic scenarios to help parents consider their risk mitigation options and put plans in place

Family-Focused Safety Series - this is a collection of nine, hour-long modules geared toward parents/adults and children of all ages. Any of these modules can be covered in the initial class (part 1) and are NOT limited to part 2. These modules are:

  • Accident Prevention and Safety Basics » An introduction to what safety is and the gun safety rules
  • Firearms Heritage and Use » The history of the Second Amendment and firearms use in America today
  • Firearms Safety Rules » The basics of what to do – and what not to do – with a firearm
  • Range Rules and Etiquette » What to expect on the range and how to act responsibly
  • Shooting Fundamentals » The seven shooting fundamentals
  • Firearms Familiarization: Long Guns » The parts, basic functions and fundamentals of long guns
  • Firearms Familiarization: Handguns » The parts, basic functions and fundamentals of handguns
  • Dry-Fire Practice » Dry-fire tools, preparation and drills
  • Situational Awareness » The CODE process and Color Codes of Awareness

Cancellation Policy: The fees for this class are not refundable. If you can not attend a class on the date you have chosen, you may reschedule the course at a later date. If you do not show up for a class without contacting me 48 hours prior to class, your payment will be forfeited. You will never lose your payment if you just communicate with me. Thanks!

It will also establish foundations for creating positive, welcoming and fun learning experiences for youth, while preventing accidents and promoting the safe, responsible and ethical use of firearms.
