FOUNDATIONS OF DEFENSIVE HANDGUN

Foundations of Defensive Handgun is the cornerstone course for anyone serious about carrying and employing a handgun for personal defense. Designed for shooters who have a basic familiarity with their firearm, this class builds a rock-solid foundation in safe handling, precision marksmanship, and defensive application under stress.

Students will progress from core fundamentals to dynamic drills that balance speed with accuracy, critical decision-making, and problem-solving. By the end of this intensive course, participants will not only increase their shooting confidence but also learn to apply practical skills that could save their life.

This course is a prerequisite for Defensive Handgun II.

Firearm safety principles under stress

Fundamentals of marksmanship (grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control)

Efficient presentation from the holster

Methods of engagement & alternate aiming points

Drawing with speed and precision

Administrative and tactical reloads

Emergency/speed reloads under time pressure

Stoppage clearance & problem-solving on the move

Engaging multiple threats

Fighting from retention distance

Immediate movement to cover or dominant position

Critical communication in a defensive encounter

Capstone drill integrating all skills
