What You'll Learn
Topic / Module What’s Covered Firearm Safety (classroom) Fundamental safety rules; safe storage at home, in vehicles, and in public; safe handling.
Basic Principles of Marksmanship (classroom & range) Shooting fundamentals like stance, grip, sight alignment/sight picture, trigger control.
Care, Cleaning, Loading & Unloading (classroom) How to properly maintain and store a concealable firearm; identifying firearms and ammunition; safe loading/unloading.
State & Federal Firearms Laws (classroom) Laws governing ownership, carrying, storage, transport; legal use of force / self-defense laws; rules about where you can and cannot carry (prohibited areas). Also proper interaction with law enforcement while carrying/transporting concealed firearms.
Handgun Handling & Range Practice (range + classroom) Dry-fire drills, handling from concealment, and live-fire practice.
Live-Fire Qualification (range) A live-fire test at the end of training (see next section for details).
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.

Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive classroom course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. If you are new to handguns, this is a great introduction to everything you need to know to start your self-protection journey.
This course is a complete guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. After this class, students will feel confident to act as their family’s first line of defense in the event of a home invasion or other critical incident.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
You must successfully complete a live-fire exercise with a concealable firearm. The standard qualification: 30 rounds total fired at a standard B-27 silhouette target approved by ISP. Distribution of rounds: 10 rounds from 5 yards 10 rounds from 7 yards 10 rounds from 10 yards Passing score: 70%, i.e. at least 21 out of 30 rounds must hit the target (inside the scoring area). centralillinoisconcealcarry.com If you do not pass the qualification, you must re-qualify (some programs offer remedial instruction before retesting).
