What You'll Learn
IDAHO ENHANCED CONCEALED CARRY
PLEASE READ ENTIRE COURSE DESCRIPTION BEFORE REGISTERING!
Class Duration: 8 hours (Two-day courses are 4 hours each) Ages: 20+ (Any student aged 18 and above is welcome to attend the ECCW class, but Idaho will not issue an ECCW permit to anyone under the age of 21)
Prerequisites: Basic proficiency with a pistol: Ability to safely load, unload and clear malfunctions while applying the four universal firearms safety rules 100 percent of the time – if you cannot SAFELY load, unload, and clear malfunctions from your firearm without assistance, please learn to do so before taking this class.
Required Equipment:
• ONE Semiautomatic pistol (in a case or pistol rug) in good working condition with at least two magazines (three magazines if pistol has a capacity of 8 or less). Students bringing revolvers will need to have speedloaders to keep up with the flow of the shooting qualification. • 100 rounds of appropriate ammunition • Eye and ear protection (electronic ear protection is preferred) • Snacks and drinks are recommended but cannot be consumed on the range
This course satisfies the requirements of Idaho Code 18-3302K, enabling students to apply for an Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit as well as an Oregon Concealed Carry Permit.
This course is intended to educate students about situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and the legal, moral and financial ramifications of deadly use of force. Considerable time will be given to Idaho-specific laws and regulations. Students will also learn about what to consider when choosing a defensive firearm, alternative methods of self-defense, and will briefly review proper gun handling skills (this is not a shooting class. Please read prerequisites).
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES:
THIS IS NOT A SHOOTING COURSE. New and/or inexperienced shooters are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to reschedule until they gain experience and knowledge before taking this class. The 98-round shooting qualification is relatively fast-paced and shooters are expected to be able to safely handle their guns on their own. If a student cannot understand range commands or handle a firearm safely, they will be asked to leave and will not qualify.
• If you have a new or unfamiliar firearm, this is not the appropriate venue in which to test it. Our instructors cannot clean or repair guns on the range.
• Please respect everyone’s time: If a student misses 10 minutes or more of class, they will not receive a certificate (don’t buy a gun during a break)
• If you would like to bring a back up gun in case of a failure, that is acceptable, but you will not have an opportunity to shoot multiple guns during the qualification.
