What You'll Learn

Course duration: 4 hours Cost: $125

PREREQUISITE: Basic Pistol 1 or equivalent. If you have shot before but it has been a long time, OR it has been over six months since you took basic pistol 1, you may want to take basic pistol 1 to refresh your skills.

Building on the fundamentals acquired in Basic Pistol 1, our Basic Pistol 2 class is designed to take your handgun proficiency to the next level. Safety remains a top priority as we delve into advanced skills, malfunction clearances, efficient reloads, firearm maintenance, and gear considerations. This class primarily focuses on malfunctions with semi-automatic pistols, but revolvers are welcome (speed loaders or speed strips for revolvers will be required). Course Highlights:

  1. Safety Review and Reinforcement:

    • Begin with a comprehensive review of safety rules and principles covered in Basic Pistol 1.
    • Emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe and controlled shooting environment.
  2. Malfunction Identification and Clearances:

    • Learn advanced techniques for swiftly and safely addressing common pistol malfunctions, such as stovepipes and double feeds.
    • Practice immediate action drills to ensure quick problem-solving under stress.
  3. Efficient Reloads:

    • Learn various reload techniques to keep your pistol in the fight.
    • Focus on minimizing downtime during magazine changes while maintaining accuracy and safety.
  4. Firearm Maintenance Overview:

    • Gain a brief understanding of pistol maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection.
  5. Gear and Holsters Discussion:

    • Explore different holster types, carry positions, and gear options.
  6. Live Fire Exercises:

    • Dedicate 50 rounds to live-fire practice, focusing on:
      • Safe and efficient malfunction clearances.
      • Transitioning between targets to enhance your accuracy and speed.
      • Applying advanced reloading techniques under time constraints.

Benefits:

  • Develop the skills and knowledge to handle pistol malfunctions with confidence and speed.
  • Enhance your shooting accuracy and efficiency through live-fire drills.
  • Gain insight into firearm maintenance and proper gear selection for your needs.
  • Gain additional knowledge and skills to ultimately gain enough confidence to practice independently and without assistance.

Join our Basic Pistol 2 class to become a more proficient and responsible handgun owner. This course provides you with the tools and techniques to handle challenging situations, maintain your pistol, and make informed decisions about your gear. Your increased confidence and skill level will be evident on the range, whether for self-defense, sport shooting, or personal enjoyment.

Students will need to bring a semi-automatic pistol in good working order with two magazines OR a double action revolver with at least one speed strip/speedloader, and 50 rounds of ammunition. Students should also bring adequate eye and ear protection; electronic ear protection is preferred.

Single action revolvers are not appropriate for this course. Please email academy@iishooting.com for more information.
