What You'll Learn
CHP / CCW NEW permit Class:
Colorado House Bill 24-1174 (HB24-1174), effective July 1, 2025, introduces significant changes to the state's concealed handgun permit (CHP) training requirements. The bill mandates an 8-hour in-person training course conducted by a "Verified Instructor," covering topics such as firearm safety, legal responsibilities, and includes both a written exam and a live-fire exercise.
Student will Receive and Email At least 24 Hours Prior to class With the exact Address, and any up dated Information you may need for the class.
What you need to Know: • Bring Your Firearm (handguns only NO rifles.) Or be prepared to Rent one at the Range. • You will need at least 50 Round of ammo for your Firearm. • Bring Eye & hearing Protection. Or be prepared to Rent it at the Range. • You can bring food, snacks & Drink. You will need to clean up after your self • Dress appropriately No open toed shoes or low cut Shirts or Blouses. • Firearm MUST be in a case or Holster, And Unloaded. • Valid Colorado ID.
This 8-hour course is broken up into the following course structure: Legal & Law – This section covers Colorado-specific laws related to concealed carry, self-defense, use-of-force regulations, and the legal responsibilities of gun owners. Firearm Safety Class – This portion focuses on the safe handling, storage, and operation of firearms, including fundamental marksmanship skills and best practices for responsible gun ownership. Written Exam - An open book 30 question written exam based on the class material. Live Fire Exercise - After the Module 1 or Module 2 there is a scheduled live-fire exercise All the parts to the course need to be taken to get the needed certificate to take the county sheriff. Course is up to date with new July 1 2025 standards and content.
