What You'll Learn
Student Expectations & Course Prerequisites:
The Orange County CCW Initial Certification Course is designed to certify students in the safe handling, operation, and lawful concealed carry of their firearm. This course is not intended to serve as a beginner firearms class or a student’s first live-fire experience.
Students attending this course are expected to arrive with:
• A safe and functional firearm suitable for concealed carry
• Sufficient ammunition for training and qualification
• A working knowledge of their firearm’s operation and controls
• The ability to safely handle and manipulate their firearm without direct one-on-one instruction
Prior to attending class, students should be comfortable with:
• Loading and unloading magazines
• Safely loading and unloading their firearm
• Locking the slide or action open
• Maintaining muzzle discipline and trigger finger discipline
• Basic firearms safety rules
• Shooting well enough to successfully complete the required qualification course
Students who are unfamiliar with their firearm, new to shooting, or unable to safely manipulate their firearm are strongly encouraged to complete a basic pistol course prior to attending the CCW certification course.
Please note that successful completion of the live-fire qualification is required for course completion and issuance of training certification.
If you have recently purchased a firearm and are unsure whether it is appropriate for concealed carry, properly fitted to your hands, or suitable for qualification, we encourage you to contact us prior to class for guidance.
At Not Today Self-Defense & Firearms Training, we believe concealed carry is rooted in responsibility, safety, discipline, and preparation. Establishing a safe and professional training environment ensures every student receives the highest quality instruction possible.
