What You'll Learn
Created by a woman for women, Beth Alcazar, USCCA Associate Editor and Senior Training Counselor, Women's Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals is a welcoming and engaging training course with multiple layers of instruction. This course, featuring three distinct levels that can be separated or taken in combination (Women's Basic Pistol, Women's Intermediate Pistol, and Women's Defensive Pistol), the course is designed to reach students who are brand new to firearms (and maybe have never picked up a gun before) through those who are ready to learn more about defensive shooting and take the next step with their firearms skills, tools, and mindset. This course covers all three levels, and includes range time.
The fundamentals of shooting will be introduced, reviewed, and built upon, while also exploring universal safety rules, situational awareness, common types of handguns, ammunition types, marksmanship skills, advanced firearms handling, defensive pistol fundamentals, and the use of deadly force. Specifically, Women's Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals is all about sharing the basics, along with the fun, the seriousness, and the importance of being a responsibly armed woman. Whether you’ve never touched a firearm, you’re looking for the next steps in your training, or you’ve chosen to learn about the skills, tools, and mindset needed to use firearms for self-defense, you can be prepared with tips and techniques from experienced women in the world of firearms.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
What We'll Teach
Basic
In this introduction module, Beth Alcazar introduces students to the basics of handgun safety, including how to safely clear (unload) a semi-automatic pistol. Alcazar goes on to explain and demonstrate the seven basic fundamentals for safe and accurate shooting. The lesson is rounded out by taking those basics, and putting them into practice both in the classroom and on the shooting range. This lesson will act as a building block as the student progresses to Women’s Intermediate Pistol.
