What You'll Learn
RDS Pistol Transition
This course is designed for sworn law enforcement officers transitioning from a traditional iron-sighted duty pistol to a pistol-mounted Red Dot Sight (RDS) system.
Students will receive both classroom instruction and hands-on range training focused on the safe, effective, and proficient use of an RDS-equipped handgun. Training includes:
Fundamentals of RDS marksmanship Presentation and target acquisition Reloads and weapon manipulations Shooting under time and accuracy standards Transitioning between optic and iron sights Operating in degraded or optic-failure conditions
Upon successful completion, students will demonstrate foundational competency with the RDS platform consistent with POST Course #32067 standards.
This course also satisfies the 8-hour Perishable Skills Program (PSP) requirement for Tactical Firearms Training and fulfills agency requirements for personnel authorized to carry a pistol-mounted red dot optic both on and off duty.
Eligibility: Active Sworn Peace Officers
