What You'll Learn
The USCCA’s Defensive Pistol Program (DPP) is a comprehensive course designed to help participants develop essential defensive shooting skills using both live-fire and dry-fire training methods. The program focuses on both objective- and perfor¬mance-based training. Utilizing motor learning and skill-acquisition science, DPP en¬sures participants are equipped with the knowledge and practical experience needed to effectively use a pistol in a defensive context.
This live-fire program is designed to introduce responsible gun owners to the safe handling and effective use of a pistol while developing essential defensive shoot¬ing skills to be used in a concealed carry and/or home-defense context.
Main lecture topics include: Understanding defensive context Probability and self defense data Home defense considerations Ammunition and ballistics Concealed carry considerations
Range (dry and live fire) topics: Session 1: Fundamentals of Defensive Marksmanship Session 2: Presentation From Concealment Session 3: The Balance of Speed & Precision Session 4: Defensive Response Session 5: Malfunctions & Single-Handed Shooting
This program is designed for new pistol owners, the novice, and even experienced gun owners who wish to learn about concealed carry and defensive use of their handgun. The adaptable/adjustable curriculum for this course is molded to the attendee’s skill development compared to a curriculum based approach.
The course is broken up into short, frequent training sessions. The first one is the Main Lecture classroom presentation of approx. 2 to 2.5hours. The remaining 5 sessions are 4 hours each. Maximum class size is 8 people, which means you get a lot more individualized attention. The DPP course can be completed in 5 days back-to-back, or it can be spread out over 5 weeks, one day a week.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
