My dad has worked his entire career in the shooting sports industry which gave him great opportunities to build a decent gun collection. He taught me to use them responsibly from a very young age. My parents gave me several guns over the years while I was growing up and my wife and I recently purchased her first concealed firearm now that she is licensed. I first heard about USCCA from a strange truck driver. I honestly consider him slightly crazy, but he told me about how the USCCA has your back if you find yourself in a self defense situation. Jump forward a couple of years to August 2023, I met one of my dad's customers in Ohio at their gun shop. They invited my wife and I to dinner and told us about the USCCA and gave us the July 2023 Concealed Carry magazine. I procrastinated reading the magazine for a while, but eventually read a few pages. I knew I need to become a member, and I didn't want to disappoint my new friends (dad's customers), so i finally because a member. It gives me a great sense of security knowing that my wife and I members of a great organization that has the same values that they want to protect as we do.

Started the membership because, life is unpredictable and you never know when your safety will be challenged/ threaten and one need to be prepared.

Everything except the incessant ads for USCCA-FSL, which I refuse to support, and the repeating emails and texts urging me to join the USCCA. Your own records will show I've been a member for years - I don't need to receive additional recruitment materials.

Moving out away from town was definitely a factor in the decision but moreover it has been the crazy world we live in now and the increasing need to be ready at all times to defend myself, my family and maybe others around me when harm comes our way. The USCCA membership decision comes with the need to be defended should the crazy "legal" system makes me out to be the bad guy for defending myself and/or my family.

During the heart of the Covid pandemic sh*t started getting really weird and I work at a hospital which means I was needed especially with alot of staff getting sick and or resigning. We even received a letter from the mayor granting us permission to travel after lock down curfew hours. Then the rioting started, and that's when I made the decision to enhance protection for the family and myself. I skipped the handgun area and went directly to the rifle section. Went for some classes the following month for my CCL and signed up with USCCA. And now we're here, crime is ridiculous, streets are flooded with dope and illegal activities are rising and the Gov wants to take rights away?!?! YEAH, NO!!!

I have been considering for a long time to get my license. As I watch the world go by, with all the craziness I decided it was time to get off my duff and make it happen. In my state I need a LTC and there is a class requirement. In the class I learned about the USCCA and joined on the spot. I think the insurance for self defense and the training are extremely important.
