USCCA Sponsors “National Train A Teacher Day” This Saturday

50-State Training and Education Campaign Aims to Help Teachers Better Protect Schools and Students Ahead of the New School Year

West Bend, WI – This Saturday, July 20th is the second annual National Train a Teacher Day (NTATD) in which thousands of school teachers and administrators across the country will be offered free self-defense training by Certified Instructors and Training Counselors. The United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), which provides education, training and self-defense protection to more than 420,000 responsible American gun owners across the country, is the official sponsor of this national event which aims to empower educators across the country with the training and tools they need to defend themselves in the case of a criminal attack.

National Train a Teacher Day comes as more states and school districts are allowing teachers and administrators to go through training and carry firearms on school
campuses to better protect the students in their charge. In Florida, for example, expansion of the armed teacher program was one of several recommendations made
by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, which was commissioned after the tragic mass shooting in Parkland in February 2018.

“All too often we see evildoers targeting schools precisely because they know the innocent people inside are often unable to protect themselves,” USCCA
President and Founder Tim Schmidt said. “By sponsoring National Train a Teacher Day and providing educational materials to educators, administrators and
students, we hope to help change the current status quo and prevent these tragedies from happening in the future. We are proud to sponsor this worthy
effort and look forward to continuing the work to ensure our children are protected in the classroom.”

As part of its sponsorship of National Train a Teacher Day, the USCCA is also donating materials used by volunteer USCCA Certified Instructors who are offering free courses for teachers in all 50 states. Donated materials will include Countering The Mass Shooter Threat, Concealed Carry And Home Defense Fundamentals, and Emergency First Aid Fundamentals books and the online e-Learning program that goes with each for teachers participating in the training programs across the country.

“Educators trained in self-defense can be the front lines of defense for our students because they have the necessary knowledge and experience to protect
their classrooms.  In an emergency situation, seconds matter,” said Tim Schmidt, President, and founder of the USCCA.
