West Bend, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), which is the country’s largest, fastest-growing self-defense association dedicated to responsible gun owners, today gave its strong support and endorsement of the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which is being introduced in the U.S. Senate by Republican Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), Bill Cassidy (LA), and Bill Hagerty, (R-TN).
The legislation is backed by more than 40 Senators, and follows the introduction of similar legislation (H.R. 38) in the House of Representatives led by Congressman Richard Hudson and more than 115 of his House colleagues. This important legislation would allow law-abiding Americans to protect themselves and their families at all times by ensuring that a concealed carry permit in one state is recognized in other states that allow residents to carry.
The USCCA, which represents over 730,000 law-abiding gun owners and has more than 10,000 registered training instructors across the country, said today that national concealed carry reciprocity continues to be the top policy goal for its members.
“Over the last several years, we have seen a self-defense awakening across the country with millions of new gun owners, from all walks of life, choosing to be their family’s first line of defense. Unfortunately, our country’s outdated patchwork of state and local gun laws hasn’t kept pace with the times and puts every responsible gun owner at risk of breaking the law for simply crossing state lines while trying to keep their family safe,” said Tim Schmidt, President and Co-Founder of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.
“It’s time for Congress to act and empower law-abiding Americans to better protect themselves by passing national concealed carry reciprocity. We thank Senator Cornyn and his colleagues for their continued leadership on this critical legislation,” Schmidt concluded.
To date, more than 350,000 Americans have signed a petition sponsored by the USCCA, urging Congress to prioritize and pass national reciprocity.
In 2022, the trend of record-high gun sales continued as 31.5 million background checks for firearm purchases were recorded. As sales skyrocketed, so has the demand for firearm safety and training courses across the country.
