Critical Legislative Reform Ensures Law-Abiding Gun Owners Can Defend Themselves and Their Loved Ones Regardless of Geography
West Bend, WI | Jan. 8, 2025 – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), the largest, fastest-growing self-defense association in the country dedicated to responsible gun owners, today released the following on the introduction of H.R. 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. Led by U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09), this critical legislative reform ensures law-abiding Americans can protect themselves and their families at all times, providing greater consistency and clarity of their Constitutional rights. The bill calls for a concealed carry permit issued in one state to be recognized in other states that permit residents to carry, promoting uniformity across the country and empowering responsible gun owners to exercise their right to self-defense no matter their location.
“Our Constitutional rights do not end at state lines,” said Tim Schmidt, President and Co-Founder of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association. “On behalf of the USCCA’s more than 850,000 members nationwide, we applaud Congressman Hudson’s continued leadership in defending the rights of responsibly-armed Americans. This legislation is critical to ensuring law-abiding gun owners can defend themselves and their loved ones regardless of geography or location. The USCCA remains committed to seeing H.R. 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, the most consequential reform for gun owners nationwide, signed into law.”
To date, more than half a million Americans have signed a petition sponsored by the USCCA, urging their representatives in Washington to prioritize and help pass national reciprocity, underscoring broad support for the fundamental right to self-defense among the overwhelming majority of Americans.
Schmidt continued, “Our diverse membership, representing Americans from all backgrounds, underscores the broad support for the fundamental right to self-defense. We are unwavering in our commitment to safeguarding the rights of law-abiding citizens, no matter where they live. This legislation is a pivotal step in the self-defense movement and will further strengthen Americans’ right to responsible gun ownership.”
