Kevin Michalowski Comments On Virginia’s Dated Law Making It Illegal To Carry Concealed In Places of Worship
Virginia Senate Voted To Repeal Dated Law Making It Illegal To Carry Any Gun To A Place Of Worship
West Bend, WI – Executive Editor of Concealed Carry Magazine Kevin Michalowski joined Richmond’s Morning News with host John Reid on Newsradio 1140 WRVA to discuss the state Senate’s vote to repeal the dated law deeming it a misdemeanor to “carry a gun, pistol, bowie knife, dagger or other dangerous weapon without good and sufficient reason, to a place of worship” during religious services.
The State Senate also passed a bill allowing first responders including firefighters and EMTs to carry a concealed handgun for public self-defense.
Michalowski said, “People all over the country are seeing that criminals do not care about gun-free zones, rather they see that criminals are willing to come into houses of worship and attack people. There needs to be an opportunity for the people inside those places to protect themselves.”
He continued, “If you have a law that proactively stops that, you’re harming your own constituents. I think that all gun-free zone laws across the board should be abolished. Quite honestly, if someone ignores the idea that murder is illegal, certainly a law against carrying a concealed weapon into a gun-free zone is not going to stop them.”
