Don Adams

Don Adams is the owner and founder of The Threat Response Training Group and is a co-founder of Impact 360 Memphis. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of Memphis and an MBA from Christian Brothers University. His passion is to help educate and train the citizenry of Memphis in personal safety and self-defense as we go about our daily lives. His instructional perspective is not from a military or law enforcement background or perspective, but a specialization of skills and knowledge acquired from years of training with industry leaders.

Don has been studying personal self-defense for over a decade and is a first degree blackbelt in Krav Maga based self-defense. He is an NRA and USCCA firearms instructor, and a certified handgun instructor by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. He actively teaches the handgun permit classes recommended by the State of Tennessee which are required for Tennessee residents to carry a handgun in other states.

Among his other credentials, he is an Instructor for the NRA's Refuse to be a Victim® program, certified trainer for Be the One (Tennessee’s suicide prevention program), certified instructor in the use of Pepper Spray for Self Defense, and a nationally certified Porsche High Performance Drivers Education (HPDE) instructor. He has recently completed certification for the S.A.F.E (Situational Awareness For Employees) program to educate the citizenry at large on situational awareness and behavioral analysis as well as having become a certified instructor for the ASP AIC, ASP Instructor Certification program for law enforcement in the use of batons, handcuffs, and flashlights.

In addition to his instructor credentials, he has acquired training and education in situational awareness and analysis, active shooter response, use of impact weapons for self-defense, the 5 universal components of a self-defense claim, armed citizens' rules of engagement, and training on responding to physical trauma (Severe Trauma Action Training - STAT).

Don has successfully completed the Memphis Police Citizens Academy, the FBI Citizens Academy and is an alumni member of the FBI Citizens Academy (FBINCAAA).

Don has lived in Memphis Since 1990 and his school, TRTG, is based in the downtown area and loves being a part of Memphis and Greater Memphis community.
