Get ready for a full day of instruction focused on firearm safety, responsible gun handling, shooting fundamentals, personal protection, and North Carolina concealed carry laws.
Rock Haven Protective has partnered with Old School Protection to offer a premier firearms training experience.
During this course, participants will learn:
- Fundamental firearm safety rules
- Pistol operation and responsible gun handling
- Shooting fundamentals and marksmanship
- Personal and family protection considerations
- North Carolina concealed carry and use-of-force laws
- The requirements and responsibilities of carrying a concealed handgun
After successfully completing the required classroom instruction, written examination, and live-fire qualification, you will receive the documentation necessary to apply for a North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit.
Course Schedule
- The course begins at 8:30 a.m.
- North Carolina requires a minimum of eight hours of classroom instruction, plus range qualification time.
- The first portion of the course will cover pistol operation, firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, and gun handling.
- The final two to three hours will focus on North Carolina laws related to concealed carry and the use of deadly force.
- Live-fire qualification will be conducted at the range.
Experience Recommendations
Previous firearm experience is not required; however, we strongly recommend completing a basic pistol course or private instruction before attending.
This course covers a significant amount of information in one day. If you arrive ready to learn, participate, and put in the necessary work, our instructors will help prepare you for the live-fire qualification.
Course Investment
- Individual participant: $100
- Couples’ rate: $180
- Required deposit: $50 per participant
- First responders and military personnel: 20% discount with valid identification
- Discounted first responder and military rate: $80 per participant after discount (Cannot be stacked with couples' discount)
- The required deposit is $50 per participant at the time of registration. The remaining balance must be paid in cash and brought on the day of the course.
Cancellation and Transfer Policy
- All course fees are nonrefundable.
- Rescheduling may be considered when at least 72 hours’ notice is provided.
- Each student is limited to one course transfer per calendar year.
- No-shows and cancellations made with fewer than 72 hours’ notice will forfeit all payments and transfer opportunities.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.

Additional Notes from Your Instructor
No Sig Sauer P320's are allowed in Rock Haven Protective courses. Firearm (.22 and 9mm) handgun rentals are available. Ear and eye protection rentals are available for an additional fee. Suppressor rentals are available for noise-sensitive participants. All rentals require use of ammunition provided through Rock Haven Protective.
