This course also allows you to attend our intermediate follow-on trainings. Perfect for law-abiding citizens who can legally possess a firearm, this training includes live fire exercises and shooting qualification led by a USSCA Certified Instructor. Upon completion, you will meet the training requirements set by Montana law to obtain your Montana Concealed Weapons Permit from your local Sheriff (pending you are otherwise eligible).

REQUIRED ITEMS: • A positive, teachable attitude, and respect for instructors and fellow students. • A reliable handgun and 3–5 extra magazines (10 is most optimal). Rentals may be available for an additional fee—contact Shawn for more info. • Eye and hearing protection. • 300-400+ rounds of ammunition, water, snacks, and clothing for cold/wet weather. • A quality holster (must fully cover the trigger guard, retain the firearm during movement, and remain open upon re-holstering). • Knee pads are helpful but optional. • Belt-mounted mag pouches or use of your back pockets is just fine.

Upon successfully completing this course, you will become a USCCA Certified Instructor uniquely authorized to teach the USCCA course, Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals. This course has become the nation’s leading curriculum for law-abiding Americans seeking to obtain their concealed carry permit. When it comes to firearms fundamentals and concealed carry and home defense concepts, you will provide your students with high-quality material and help them understand the ‘why’ behind training concepts. H.R. 218 (LEOSA) ANNUAL FIREARMS QUALIFICATION: This course is in compliance with both Federal Law (18 U.S.C. 926B and 926C) as well as Montana Law (45-8-338, MCA). Retired law enforcement deputies, officers, troopers, and federal/ state agents who wish to participate in this class must provide photo identification showing proof from the agency in which you retired (10+ years).

This course is specifically for qualified law enforcement officers. The term "qualified retired law enforcement officer" means an individual who--

(1) separated from service in good standing from service with a public agency as a law enforcement officer; (2) before such separation, was authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of, or the incarceration of any person for, any violation of law, and had statutory powers of arrest or apprehension under section 807(b) of title 10, United States Code (article 7(b) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice); (3)(A) before such separation, served as a law enforcement officer for an aggregate of 10 years or more; or (B) separated from service with such agency, after completing any applicable probationary period of such service, due to a service-connected disability, as determined by such agency; (4) during the most recent 12-month period, has met, at the expense of the individual, the standards for qualification in firearms training for active law enforcement officers, as determined by the former agency of the individual, the State in which the individual resides or, if the State has not established such standards, either a law enforcement agency within the State in which the individual resides or the standards used by a certified firearms instructor that is qualified to conduct a firearms qualification test for active duty officers within that State; (5)(A) has not been officially found by a qualified medical professional employed by the agency to be unqualified for reasons relating to mental health and as a result of this finding will not be issued the photographic identification as described in subsection (d)(1); or (B) has not entered into an agreement with the agency from which the individual is separating from service in which that individual acknowledges he or she is not qualified under this section for reasons relating to mental health and for those reasons will not receive or accept the photographic identification as described in subsection (d)(1); (6) is not under the influence of alcohol or another intoxicating or hallucinatory drug or substance; and (7) is not prohibited by Federal law from receiving a firearm.

REQUIRED ITEMS: • Bring a positive, teachable attitude, and respect for instructors and fellow students. • Ensure you possess a reliable AR-15 firearm and 3-10 extra magazines. Rentals may be available for an additional fee. Contact Shawn for more info. • Wear eye and hearing protection. • Bring 300+ rounds of ammunition, water, snacks, and warm/wet weather clothing. • Equip yourself with a quality sling for your rifle. • Bring wet/cold weather clothing. • Knee pads will be helpful if you have them. • Chest-rigs, mag pouches, and other gear is OPTIONAL. Back pockets work just fine for magazines.

Mini Enhanced Concealed Weapon Permit (E-CWP) Course

This streamlined handgun course meets all requirements of Montana Code Annotated 45-8-312(5)(a–d) for the Enhanced Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) while minimizing time commitment.

Designed for those seeking an efficient yet complete training experience, the Mini E-CWP delivers the essential legal, practical, and live-fire components required by state law — all in a focused, approximately 3-hour hybrid format.

The curriculum draws from nationally recognized sources including NRA Basic Pistol, USCCA Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals, and Liberty Firearms Training’s proprietary modules, ensuring a balance of legal understanding, safety principles, and defensive application.

Participants will complete:

• Instruction on Montana firearms laws and the lawful use of force
• Core handgun safety and handling fundamentals
• Self-defense concepts and mindset training
• Live-fire qualification (minimum 98 rounds fired)

Upon successful completion, students are eligible to apply for the Montana Enhanced CWP, recognized in over 40 states, pending individual eligibility. This course is led by certified instructors credentialed through the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA).

Prerequisites/Disclaimers: This course does not issue an Enhanced CWP; it only fulfills the minimum training requirement to apply through your local sheriff (eligibility required). This is not a beginner class. Prior professional firearms safety/handling training is highly recommended—students must already know how to safely load/unload, understand the four universal safety rules, and have previously fired their firearm. Participation does not guarantee certification; we may withhold certificates for major safety violations, unsafe behavior, or failure to follow safety instructions. Modern Home Defense Strategies (MHDS) is a six-hour, scenario-based course that teaches essential home safety strategies using Simunitions® training guns and protective gear. PISTOL RED DOT 1: FUNDAMENTALS

Thinking about making the switch to a red dot-equipped handgun? Already have one mounted but struggle to consistently find the dot? Pistol Red Dot 1: Fundamentals is designed to build the foundational knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to effectively run a pistol-mounted optic. Through a combination of classroom instruction and live-fire exercises, students will learn how red dot optics work, how to properly set up and zero their system, and how to consistently acquire the dot through a repeatable presentation. Emphasis is placed on developing target-focused shooting, understanding the realities of dot wobble, and building the habits necessary to eventually maximize both speed and precision. Whether you're new to pistol optics or looking to refine your existing skills, this course will provide the practical experience and training roadmap needed to get the most from your red dot-equipped handgun.

Topics Include: • Benefits and limitations of pistol-mounted optics • Open vs. enclosed emitter optics • Optic setup, mounting considerations, and co-witness systems • Zeroing concepts, offset, and holdovers • Consistent presentation and dot acquisition • Understanding and managing dot wobble • Brightness settings and common optic issues • Backup iron sights and optic failure contingencies • Live-fire drills focused on confidence, speed, and precision • Developing an effective dry-fire and live-fire practice plan
