I have been involved in the shooting world since an early age.  I had been taught gun safety and usage before I was a teenager, and acquired my first certification, like many, at the age of twelve.  My Minnesota Hunter’s Safety Certificate.  I continued to hunt and practice with multiple firearms, including teaching others, as I grew up.  I stated carrying a firearm professionally as a Security Officer in 1990.  After graduating MSUM I joined the United States Border Patrol as a sworn Federal Law Enforcement Agent.  In 2016 I was certified by the Department of Homeland Security/ US Customs and Border Protection as a Firearms and Tactics Instructor, Active Shooter Instructor, Glock, Remington, and Colt Field Maintenance Armorer, and certification in the use of the IFA Kit.  I used these certifications to instruct quarterly training for the United States Border Patrol and assist in the Training of Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation out of the Fargo, North Dakota Office.  I held these certifications until my retirement in 2021 after twenty-one years of Federal Service.  Since my retirement I have also been certified by the NRA for Basic Pistol instruction and Range Safety Officer, the USCCA for MN Permit to Carry, and am learning to be a gunsmith.  I am presently the Owner and Operator of NORTHMAN Firearms Training and Service.
