Court-Required Firearms Safety Training

Sometimes good people make mistakes and find themselves in difficult situations.

A court, attorney, probation officer, diversion program, or other authority may require firearms safety education as part of a court order, probation requirement, pretrial condition, or other legal process.

Michigan Pistol Academy provides private, four-hour, in-person remedial firearms safety training designed around the requirements of the individual referral or court order.

Before training, we ask students to provide a copy of the court order, attorney instructions, probation requirement, or other documentation so we can review what has been requested and address the appropriate subjects during training.

Topics may include:

Firearm safety and responsible ownership

Safe storage and transportation

Michigan firearm laws

Decision-making and situational awareness

Avoidance and responsible conduct

Other subjects identified in the court order or referral

This is a private, one-on-one class available by appointment.

Because students taking this course may be prohibited from possessing or handling firearms, no firearms are permitted or handled during this training. This is a non-firing educational course.

At the completion of training, the student receives documentation describing the instruction completed.

Because court requirements vary by case and jurisdiction, we do not assume that one course automatically satisfies every court order. We review the documentation provided before training so the course can be matched as closely as possible to the individual requirement.
