What You'll Learn
California CCW License Training (16 Hours)
Enroll in our comprehensive 16-hour California Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) training course to complete the training required by the Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD) and participating municipal issuing agencies in Los Angeles County.
This course is approved for applicants through:
- Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD)
- Gardena Police Department
- Glendale Police Department
- Hermosa Beach Police Department
- Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)
- Montebello Police Department
- Redondo Beach Police Department
- Torrance Police Department
- Whittier Police Department
Please Note: This course is approved for LAPD applicants but is not approved for Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) applicants.
Throughout this comprehensive course, you'll receive instruction in California firearm laws, safe firearm handling, conflict avoidance, situational awareness, the lawful use of force, firearm storage, and the legal and ethical responsibilities of carrying a concealed firearm. You'll also develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become a safe, responsible, and competent concealed carrier.
Students must successfully complete the required classroom instruction, written examination, and live-fire qualification to receive a California DOJ-compliant Certificate of Training for submission with their CCW permit application.
Successful completion of this course satisfies the training requirement for the issuing agencies listed above; however, completion of the course does not guarantee issuance of a CCW permit. Permit issuance remains solely at the discretion of the issuing agency.
Whether you are new to concealed carry or have years of shooting experience, our goal is to provide practical, professional instruction that emphasizes responsible decision-making, sound judgment, and defensive firearm proficiency—not simply meeting the minimum state requirements.
Stay Informed After Your Training
California firearms and self-defense laws continue to evolve. Civilian Arms Training Source (CATS) monitors significant legislative changes, court decisions, and regulatory developments that may affect California CCW permit holders. When appropriate, we provide educational updates to help our students stay informed about meaningful changes that could impact responsible firearm ownership and concealed carry.
These educational updates are provided for informational purposes only and should not be considered legal advice. Students with questions regarding their individual circumstances should consult qualified legal counsel.
For your continued protection, we encourage every responsible gun owner to consider obtaining self-defense legal protection if they do not already have coverage.
Important: Vouchers are not accepted for this class.
All instruction is provided by California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) Certified CCW Instructors.
