The CCW License certification provides individuals with certain privileges and benefits - it allows qualifying individuals a license to carry a handgun outside the home, drive with a loaded gun in a vehicle, and carry a handgun in certain public areas. The license certification process provides enhanced education and understanding of self-defense laws for the firearm owner, making purchasing firearms easier and giving the handgun owner more self-confidence and peace of mind.

This CCW course is for INITIAL or first-time California Concealed Weapons License candidates or people who have… Oops! Let their CCW License relapse. Our California CCW License course is certified by the OCSD (Orange County Sheriff’s Department) and required by the State of California to carry any concealed handgun.

The CCW Course Consists of 3 Sessions.
Session 1: Tuesday 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Session 2: Wednesday 5 PM to 10.30 PM. Session 3: Thursday 5 PM to 10.30 PM.
Meet at the FT3 Live-Fire Shooting Range: 8230 Electric Ave. Stanton, CA 90680-2640.
Begin with Handgun Safety Check & CCW Handgun Qualification, (Live Fire). Then back to the 5150 HEAT Classroom for discussion of Lessons.
County, State & Federal Laws and Policy. Review for Exam & take Exam.

Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive classroom course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. If you are new to handguns, this is a great introduction to everything you need to know to start your self-protection journey.
This course is a complete guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. After this class, students will feel confident to act as their family’s first line of defense in the event of a home invasion or other critical incident.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
CW Handgun Check & Practical Shooting Qualification Prior to the live-fire course, each handgun must be *checked for safe and mechanically sound condition. All safety considerations and precautions must be taken during the live-fire and weapon handling. The student must demonstrate shooting proficiency and safe technique for all weapons to be listed on the CCW license. The live-fire course should be conducted after the classroom portion of the certification course. The course of Fire: The course of fire utilized by the Sheriff’s Department is as follows: The live-fire course will utilize standard silhouette B-27 scoring targets placed 3, 5, and 7 yards from the shooter. OCSD Directive - Effective Immediately: The first handgun qualification will consist of shooting a complete 72 round qualification course of fire with a checked* handgun that will be listed on your CCW License. • 24 rounds at 3 yards • 24 rounds at 5 yards • 24 rounds at 7 yards All subsequent handgun qualifications will consist of a 20 round qualification course of fire with the other checked* handgun(s) that will be listed on your CCW License. • 10 rounds at 5 yards • 10 rounds at 7 yards A passing score of 70% is the minimum on this live-fire course using the same weapon(s) that will be listed on the applicant's CCW License. This updated handgun course of fire will be applied to both initial & renewal qualifications. Shooters need to bring the following: • Handgun(s) (checked)* • 92 rounds of ammunition, (minimum) • Extra magazines/speed loaders • Ear & Eye protection (electronic preferred but NOT required) • California Driver’s license or I.D. Card • Ammo is usually available to purchase at the range, but shooters should bring extra rounds for each caliber & type of handgun.
