In the ongoing testing saga of the Man-PACK Ballistic Backpack Insert, we have found the breaking point. By delivering 30 rounds of .40 S&W from a fully automatic H&K UMP submachine gun, we put about eight rounds through the lightweight ballistic shield.

Most of the penetration came after repeated hits to the same area of the shield. Slow-motion video shows some of the projectiles being thrown from the ballistic insert by the impact of more incoming rounds. All in all, this was very impressive performance from a ballistic panel that weighs less than a pound and can be purchased for about $120.

Look for another video in the future. While the machinegun test was impressive and fun to do, it was a little bit difficult to tell EXACTLY when the board finally failed. But I would still bet my life on this little board, as long as I was not standing still and letting someone shoot me repeatedly in the same spot. But who would do that in a gunfight?

High-Velocity Projectile Stopper

The lightweight Ballistic Backpack Insert from Man-PACK stops bullets. That’s all there is to it. Having something like this in your briefcase or backpack could provide you valuable protection if bullets start flying.
