Dear Friend,

In case you didn't hear, I finally finish a HUGE project that I've been working on for months- we gave our members-only online forum a major upgrade! It runs much faster than our old system, it looks better, and it's been getting very good feedback from our members. If you are not already a deluxe member with forum access- there's never been a better time to join!!

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE USCCA FORUM:

We've been getting a lot of questions about the new forum, and I wanted to take just a second to answer a few of them!

  • Q. Do you have to be a member to use the forum?
    A. Yes, you have to be a paid, Deluxe USCCA member to use the forum.

  • Q. What if I am a paid Deluxe member, but I forgot my user name and / or password?
    A. It's easy! CLICK HERE to go to the "I forgot" page, and enter the email address that you signed up with! Our system will email you all the information that you need!

  • Q. I already logged into the USCCA home-page, so why do I get another log-in box when I go to the forum?
    A. The new forum is a separate entity, and it does require you to re-log in (but with the same case-sensitive password). Note that we are going to eventually have them integrated!

  • Okay, so on to this week's newsletter! I've got a great one for you this week, and it's all about defeating the victim mindset. See, one thing that we all recognize, is that going armed symbolizes our personal decision to NOT be a victim. Once we make this decision- even without our weapons, we are no longer victims. More vulnerable, certainly, but our pistols are just one of many factors that contribute to the 'non-victim mindset'. With that in mind... here we go!

    "On the Necessity of Resistance"
    by Michael Brown

"I just decided not to be a victim. In an instant." - Lance Thomas

The nature of a mass shooting is the ultimate expression of human predator vs. human prey.

From Oregon to Arkansas to Pennsylvania to Virginia, there are some common threads to all of these horrifying events.

While we can argue the need for more police or armed citizens or gun control ad nauseum, the one thing that will ALWAYS be necessary to prevent such extraordinary tragedy is a willingness to resist.

Do not waste your time arguing over who is responsible. Do not waste your energy trying to convince those in charge that they are wrong for denying you legal access to a firearm.

Instead funnel all of that energy into developing the righteous indignation that will result in the will to resist this type of cowardly aggression.

It is inconceivable that a single individual armed with a pistol can overwhelm 10 times his number unless those individuals choose NOT to resist.

The presence of a firearm alone is not enough to deter violence of this sort. Only an individual or group of individuals determined to resist can do that.

A firearm in the hands of a coward is merely a nuisance in this scenario.

A firearm in the hands of a determined, skilled, and capable individual is the other hand, the savior of multiple lives.

All is not lost without the presence of a weapon in this scenario.

There are countless examples of willing individuals thwarting armed individuals with nothing more than their bare hands.

In a potential violent situation, make the certain determination not to do whatever the suspect wants you to do.

This may include feigned compliance until an opening presents itself, but sometimes you may not have this opportunity and be forced to create your own.

This may include fleeing or diversion. It may include standing your ground and fighting and possibly dying.

However it is imperative that you not acquiesce and mandatory that you resist in some way.

Heroes will die some day, possibly today.

Victims die every day of their lives.

Resistance is often the determining factor in how survivors recover from traumatic incidents and frequently those that do not resist in some way but still miraculously survive, live with post traumatic stress than makes their lives unbearable.

Resistance on the other hand, reduces the effects of this type of post traumatic stress.

Don't rely on a suspect's mercy. Ever. The nature of their crime indicates that they do not regard society's ethos in the least.

Their initiative sentences them justly to whatever the rightous man does.

Make a commitment at this moment that if you are ever faced with this type of violence, that you will resist.

Alright.. last week, I threw out that ANY book written by Massad Ayoob has my UTMOST recommendation... well, they do, but I gotta tell you about one of my personal favorites. It's called In the Gravest Extreme: The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection, and it's stinking amazing. I don't usually get into the "Christmas Spirit" until snow starts flying up here, but it's never too early to pick up a great gift for one of your pistol packing friends or family members! Do yourself a favor and READ THIS BOOK!

    Pearce Grip Extensions
    USCCA Gear Review

Just so you guys don't get bored with knives, I wanted to do a "knife review sandwich" technique, where I review non-knives in between the knife reviews! Pretty cool, huh? Well for this week's bread-portion of the sandwich, I am going to put a product on the record that I strongly recommend- Grip extensions!!

The idea behind these things is to make the handle of your pistol longer, to give you a full handle. Some people call them 'pinkie extensions', or 'two plus' extensions'- but more on that in a minute!

I got these for a baby GLOCK- the smallest version of GLOCK available. Normally on this pistol, you only have room for your middle and ring finger. The small handle makes the gun great for concealment, but for me, I can't shoot the pistol as well as I can the mid-size GLOCK, which is the next size up. The reason for this, I believe, is because it has the full handle! Plus, if my hands are sweaty, I sometimes feel like I need to re-grip the pistol after a few shots, because the short handle begins to work its way out of my hand!

Here is a picture of the three models of GLOCK grip extensions. For a 9mm, these would be +1, +2, and +0 from left to right.

So anyway, these extensions solved all of my problems with the baby GLOCK! The way they work, is you pop the bottom plate off the standard magazine, and slide these new extensions back on in their place!

You can get models that do not add to the capacity of the magazine, or extensions that add one or two rounds to the capacity, depending on the caliber of the pistol.

They are very reasonably priced, and I definitely recommend that you at least give one a try! I hold my pistol steadier with them, and it's not much more difficult to conceal than it is without them.

    Gun Free Zones
Hello All...I'm having a problem dealing with the Gun-Free Zone issue. With all that happens in those areas these days, it makes me crazy that I can't be there for those folks that are affected. Seems to me that a criminal sees the signs and says "Ah, a Free-Gun Zone". And my personality dictates that I follow the rules and obey the signs. What to do?????????????

Need a good IWB holster for a glock 30
I am looking for a good concealed holster for a glock 30. I am looking at the High Noon " Tail Gate" for full time carry, but that takes 15 weeks to make. I need something that is like it for mean time that is reasonable priced. Any suggestions ?

Clips for Semi Auto hand guns
I still hear various positions on how often should one change out their clips or load and unload their clips to avoid miss fires or jamming. Let me hear your thoughts.

    Quote of the Week
Sometimes a good quote will inspire or motivate you. Sometimes, they'll just put a smile on your face! Here is the quote for this week...

"The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference- they deserve a place of honor with all that is good."

    -George Washington.

    Closing Thoughts

Okay... First- I pray to God that none of us ever have to feel as helpless as the man in that video did- watching someone commit murder without being able to do anything about it... definitely a position I do not want to be in, but because I have made the decision to lose the victim mindset- I know that I will be ready if it ever happens!

Okay guys, that's all for this week!

Remember- You only have two more days to lock in the best USCCA membership price ever offered! With our new forum and this offer, there's never been a better time to join the USCCA!

Enjoy your weekend, and be safe.
