This is the 222nd column I have written for Concealed Carry Report. I had every intention of reflecting on past columns and my more than four years of work with the USCCA, but a little voice in my head told me to look forward, not back. So let’s do that.

Concealed Carry Magazine, the publication I was hired to revamp and oversee, now has more then 200,000 readers and continues to grow every day. The simple reasons behind this growth are twofold: we have a great staff and we have a topic that resonates with so many Americans.

The staff of Concealed Carry Magazine is truly motivated to make the best product possible. This is not your daddy’s gun magazine. We work diligently to ensure that Concealed Carry Magazine goes beyond the scope of traditional gun magazines, because we know our readers have questions those other magazines can’t — or won’t — answer. We strive to be different because we want to be better. For example, starting with the January 2017 edition, we will add 28 pages of content dedicated to the self-defense topics women want to understand. This quarterly expansion, presented in the January, April, July and October issues, is written by and for women and will strive to fill the gaps so many other publications simply ignore. Concealed Carry Magazine, thanks to the dedicated staff, is constantly getting better. (If you haven’t seen a copy, call one of our Member Services Advisors at 877-677-1919. Tell them I told you to call and ask for copy of the magazine.)

In addition to the great staff, we are addressing a topic that is truly grabbing the attention of responsibly armed Americans. The vast majority of people in this country believe they have the right to defend themselves. Those same people also have valid questions about the legal, ethical and tactical elements surrounding their God-given right to self-protection. Good people want information because they are starting to understand just how complicated the legal system can be, especially when it comes to the use of force.

For too long, we have seen stories of good people tossed into a legal quagmire because they thought they were doing the right thing. The USCCA is here to help navigate that quagmire — starting with education. We take our role as the “thought leader” in this arena very seriously by providing training and information to our entire staff — from Member Services Advisors to Graphic Designers — with one goal in mind: helping responsibly armed Americans.

We know people want information and we strive to provide them the best information available.

That’s why I’m always looking forward, looking for more and better training information and trying to find more and better ways to bring that information to you: because I know that when good people get good information, good things happen.

The USCCA protects its members and I could not be happier to see this organization grow. My promise when I started this job was to answer every question any person might ever have about concealed carry. When I get that done, I’ll quit. Until then, we will keep answering your questions and guiding you through this quagmire to the best of our ability.
