Any weapon is better than no weapon when you are in a fight, but a gun gives you some advantages you might not think about. Alternate weapons, from pepper spray to the ultra-popular tactical folding knife, each have a downside. The most apparent downside is the fact that you have to be extremely close to use most alternate weapons. Pepper spray also offers the possibility of cross contamination. I’m not suggesting you avoid other weapons altogether, but you should think about the limitations.
Up Close and Personal
Fighting with a knife is brutal and bloody. It is also done at contact distances. If you have not thought of this, maybe a knife is not the right weapon for you.
