Last week I said off-body carry was not perfect, but that I liked when it was done correctly. Well, now you can add another layer of protection to just about anything you carry with a ballistic panel from the folks at Man-PACK. This little panel, which also serves as a white board, stops bullets dead—including an FMJ .45 ACP.
This would be a great panel to throw in your child’s backpack or to carry in your sling bag or briefcase. While no ballistic shield is perfect, having something that will stop bullets is better than not having something that will stop bullets. They even have a cool website: http://www.man-pack.com/bulletproof-backpack-insert.html. (The folks over at Man-PACK are kind enough to offer USCCA members and Into the Fray viewers a 10 percent discount on these Ballistic Panels. Swing on over and enter code “USCCA” at checkout.)
Let’s Shoot It Again!
In coming weeks, we will test one of these panels until it fails and count how many rounds the thing will stop. Knowing it will stop two rounds makes it worth the price. If it can stop a whole magazine, you should put it on the Christmas list.
