Active Retention in Blackhawk T-Series

-

If you are looking for a great balance between rapid deployment and active retention in an outside-the-waistband holster, take a look at the Blackhawk T-series!

This polymer holster rides outside the waistband and includes a thumb-operated retention lever. The release lever is positioned between the holster and the body and is protected by a pair of “ears” that will stop unauthorized access. Use of the holster is very intuitive, and it really appears that the chances of accidental or unauthorized activation are reduced to near zero.

The downside of the holster is that this actuating lever needs some room, thus adding about half an inch to the thickness of the holster as it rides on the belt. Wearing this holster certainly requires the use of a cover garment. The T-series holster comes with a belt clip and belt slide loops. The clip is convenient, but the loops save a little bit of space on the thickness of the holster. In use, the T-series is very fast, and the retention is excellent. This would make an excellent holster for anyone who regularly wears a sports coat or other cover garment and would certainly work well for anyone working in a professional security/law enforcement capacity.

The Tradeoff…

You can’t get something for nothing. The retention elements of this holster, while very effective, add space and could reduce your ability to conceal this holster. It would be amazing if Blackhawk could incorporate this system into an inside-the-waistband holster, but in all honesty, such a holster might be too thick to be comfortable.
