This month is National Shooting Sports Month. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) started it four years ago to aid those retailers and ranges whose businesses are typically slow during the summer months. Its goals include helping to attract first-time gun owners and new customers, increasing sales, creating awareness of the range/retail location, and promoting training and the shooting sports industry.
As part of this month-long promotion, NSSF recently launched #RangeChallenge: Summer Shots. It’s an easy, user-friendly target game activity that ranges can offer to their customers. The challenge began on August 1 and runs until September 20. It allows experienced shooters to test their skills and new shooters to learn the basics from mentors. The competition is open to everyone as a way for shooters to connect and have fun. NSSF hopes that it will promote firearms safety and shooting sports awareness nationwide.
The USCCA is the official sponsor of #RangeChallenge: Summer Shots. Zach Snow, retail & range business development director at NSSF, is proud to have its support. “The USCCA understands that practice is key to good handgun skills and especially important to those who carry a firearm for self-defense,” Snow stated. “They also know that having fun motivates people to practice more often. We’re grateful for their support of the #RangeChallenge Series and for providing a big dose of that motivation.”
This is a great opportunity for the influx of new gun owners to get the training they need. Likewise, it allows experienced gun owners to train and test their skills. The USCCA values training and education as much as gun ownership. The two go hand-in-hand.
The USCCA also values supporting its partners in the firearms industry and investing in their success. For these reasons, it has partnered with the NSSF in the past (NSSF Expo, SHOT Show and livestream broadcasts). “The USCCA exists to serve those who want to responsibly protect themselves, and we believe supporting the success of our many partners throughout the firearms industry is an important part of that mission,” declared Tim Schmidt, founder and president of the USCCA. “NSSF does great work as the trade association for our industry. It’s an honor to collaborate with them year after year.”
