It’s Christmastime again!

We’re just a few days away from one of the most magical (and perhaps one of the most maniacal) times of the year! Some folks have had their holiday shopping done, maybe for months now. They are enjoying the immense sense of relief and accomplishment one gets from having everything literally wrapped up in a bow. Others yet may be dreading — or awaiting — the final frantic days of marking things off various wish lists. And, of course, there are likely a host of people who are finding themselves somewhere in between commencing and completing, with some things finalized while other to-dos continue to pile up.

Usually, I am one for getting holiday tasks done as quickly and efficiently as possible. And while I may have done most of the shopping, I have yet to wrap gifts and bake cookies. And, unfortunately, I did not get the traditional family Christmas cards out this year. But instead of beating myself up for missing out, I am applauding myself for showing up. And I am truly looking forward to a Christmas that celebrates faith, family and friendships.

Experience Gift: Firearms Training

With that, I hope to spread the good cheer to others. And to all who will listen, I will, again, sing the praises of giving the gift of training this year! A plethora of gadgets and gizmos may be fun to open up and explore. But after a while, they may lose their luster. In fact, the LA Times reported in 2013 that the average American home contained more than 300,000 items in it, and there were still more than 50,000 storage facilities, nationwide. With five times more storage facilities in the U.S. than Starbucks locations, that’s enough physical space for every man, woman and child in America to stand in those storage units, all at the same time!

So, if you’re trying to figure out the perfect gift for that special someone, don’t overlook a firearms class — whether it’s the 1st one or the 51st! Learning a new skill — or working to master one — is a gift that never expires. It’s so important we get out to the range and work on our skills. And it’s even more important we encourage new and novice shooters to get involved. And, since we’re on this topic, don’t forget about the USCCA. A USCCA Membership is an amazing gift, full of online and in-person resources, such as Protector Academy and the award-winning Concealed Carry Magazine, just to name a few!

You still have time! Knowledge and learning are very personal, valuable and thoughtful ways to invest in yourself and in those you love. So instead of just buying tangible presents this year, give the gift of training. Share an experience and create a memory that can outlive any material item. It’s a priceless gift that can last a lifetime!
