Driving With Firearms

It depends on the laws of each state you’re traveling through. You may carry a loaded firearm if the state recognizes your concealed carry permit or allows permitless (constitutional) carry for you.

If you are traveling through a state where you cannot lawfully carry, federal law (18 U.S.C. § 926A) may provide limited protection for interstate transport.

To qualify, the firearm must be unloaded and not readily accessible from the passenger compartment. If the vehicle has a separate trunk, securing the firearm in the trunk generally satisfies this requirement.
