Airport Security: Nevada Driver Thwarts Carjacking

An armed man accosted a Las Vegas driver at around 12:30 p.m. near the Harry Reid International Airport. After the assailant pointed his gun at the driver, the man drew his own gun and shot the assailant, who later died at the hospital. No charges have been filed against the driver.

Pregnant Woman in Arkansas Shoots Would-Be Robber

A pregnant woman on a shopping trip with her husband and two children appropriately responded when a robber attacked them. The robber tackled and punched the woman’s husband while they were in a parking garage and then entered their vehicle and punched her. The woman drew a gun and shot the robber, ending the incident. The wounded attacker was transported to a nearby hospital.

California Man Defends Against Domestic Assailant

A Coarsegold couple were at home one night when the woman’s ex-boyfriend broke into the residence and assaulted her boyfriend with a knife. Though suffering several stab wounds, the man was able to retrieve a firearm and shoot the assailant, ending the attack. At around 2:15 a.m., three men forced their way into a Logan man’s home. The homeowner fired on the assailants, seriously injuring one and putting all three to flight., Logan, Utah

Oregon Man Foils Intruder

A Roseburg man heard noises from his nearby trailer one morning. On investigating, he found a neighbor breaking windows on the trailer with a large knife. He fired, missing the prowler but scaring him off. The neighbor was later apprehended by police and held without bail on several charges.

Washington State Man Fights Off Gang Members

A Kelso man was sitting with his partner in a car in the driveway of their home when two men accosted them. The attackers proceeded to beat the man in the vehicle, who they believed was a member of a rival gang. The man drew a pistol, got out of the vehicle and fired on his assailants, wounding one and putting both to flight. Police responding to reports of a shooting investigated the situation, determined the victim acted in self-defense and released him without charges. His assailants were arrested on assault and criminal trespass charges.

Arizona Stepfather Shoots Attacking Stepson

In an ongoing series of altercations, a Safford man with an active order of protection prohibiting him from contact with his stepfather forced his way into his stepfather’s residence and assaulted him. The stepfather took up a pistol and fired on the stepson, killing him. No charges had been filed against the defending man at press time.

Texas Man Routs Armed Carjacking Trio

Three armed men attempted to carjack an Oak Cliff man at a gas station. The armed victim drew a pistol and fired on the trio, hitting two and putting all three to flight. The carjackers drove to a nearby hospital seeking medical attention for their gunshot wounds, where one died and the other was treated and released to police.

Tennessee Man Captures Wanted Criminal

After being shot at by a man in another vehicle, a Smyrna man chased down the vehicle and held the driver at gunpoint for responding police. The shooter turned out to be wanted by Illinois authorities. He now also faces Tennessee charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and possession of marijuana.

An Atlanta grocery store clerk was shot during an attempted robbery but managed to get to a gun and return fire on the robber, mortally wounding him.
