Oklahoma Man Defends Against Crowbar-Wielding Assailant
A Tulsa bondsman was outside a fast-food restaurant when a man wielding a crowbar came at him. Sensing the threat and the potential for serious injury to himself, the bondsman drew his legally carried pistol and fired on the man, wounding him in the shoulder and causing him to flee. The shooter will not face charges for his defensive actions.

South Carolina Teenager Fights Off Home Invader
A Charleston County 13-year-old was home alone one afternoon when he heard sounds of a break-in at the home’s back door. Taking up his mother’s gun when he went to investigate, he fired through the door when he saw someone trying to break into the residence. The burglar fired back through the door before fleeing but missed the boy. The burglar later died at a nearby hospital from his gunshot wound.

Maryland Barkeep Stops Armed Robbery
Two men, armed with handguns, entered a Baltimore bar shortly after midnight on a Sunday morning and proceeded to rob several patrons. On being told by the barkeep that he was calling police, one of the robbers reached for his gun, whereupon the barkeep fired his own pistol, wounding the robber and putting both to flight. The wounded robber was arrested at a nearby hospital when he sought treatment for his wound. The second robber is still being sought by police. The barkeep has yet to be charged with a crime.

Ohio CCW Holder Stops Early Morning Robbery
A Toledo man was returning home from his night-shift job and had just gotten out of his car when an unknown male accosted him, gun in hand, and said, “Don’t move!” Fearing for his life, the victim drew his own pistol and shot the suspect, hitting him in the abdomen and causing him to flee the scene. The victim immediately reported the incident to police, who are calling the shooting self-defense. The suspect later was arrested at a local hospital when he sought medical attention for his wound.

Illinois CCW Holder Stops Armed Robbery
A masked and armed man entered a Chicago convenience store and announced a robbery. He then ordered a female store employee to the back of the store at gunpoint. That’s when a customer in the store drew his legally carried pistol and shot the robber several times, killing him and ending the incident. Police are calling the customer’s actions self-defense.
Florida Pizza Driver Foils Armed Robbery
A Jacksonville pizza delivery driver was accosted while making a delivery in a residential area by two men, one wielding a shotgun, who demanded money. After taking the pizzas, the robbers told the man to empty his pockets. The driver gladly complied, in the process producing a .380 ACP automatic pistol that he used to fire on the robbers, hitting one and putting both to flight. The wounded robber was arrested later when he sought treatment for his gunshot wound. The second suspect has not been apprehended. The pizza driver is not expected to face charges for his self-defense with a firearm.

Wisconsin Coin Store Clerk Defends Against Armed Robbers
Two more would-be robbers learned not to bring knives to a gun fight. When two men armed with knives tried to rob a coin store in Superior, the clerk drew his legally possessed pistol and fired on the men, hitting one in the chest and putting the second robber to flight.

Missouri Man Defends Against Teenaged Armed Robber
An armed 17-year-old used a pistol to rob two workmen at a utility work site near St. Louis. The robber then demanded a third worker hand over his belongings from inside the work truck. In doing so, the worker retrieved a handgun he carried in the truck and shot the robber in the chest, killing him. Authorities are treating the incident as self-defense, and the defending shooter is not expected to face charges.

South Carolina Craigslist Robbery Ends Badly for Robbers
When an Aiken couple went to a gas station to see about buying a car advertised on Craigslist, they were met by two men, one of whom pulled a gun and demanded money. While the robber’s attention was on the man, his girlfriend drew her own concealed pistol and fired on the robbers, killing one and causing the other to run away. The investigation continues, but no charges are expected against the woman, who acted in defense of the couple.
