After nearly a year of anticipation, the Mantis Titan X has officially launched, and it lives up to the hype. My early hands-on experience with a pre-production unit hinted at its groundbreaking potential, but the finalized model I’ve just received confirms it: The Titan X marks a transformative leap in firearms training. As expected, the only updates from the prototype are purely cosmetic, leaving its core innovations untouched.
Unveiled at SHOT Show 2025, the Titan X merges cutting-edge technology with practical training functionality. This laser-based training pistol is designed to deliver a safe, immersive and data-driven dry-fire experience, redefining how shooters hone their skills. It’s been a long wait, but the Titan X is finally shipping to the public.
Value of Dry-Fire Training
Few of us are lucky enough to live where we can simply step outside and shoot. And most of us don’t make it to the range as often as we’d like or know we should. I know I don’t. Even when we do carve out time for the range, we’re often met with limitations that restrict how we train. Ammo prices aren’t doing us any favors either.
We all know that proficiency with firearms doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, repetition and deliberate practice. Shooting is a skill and needs to be nurtured. No matter how sharp you are, marksmanship fades without regular upkeep. This is especially true when it comes to handguns.
Dry-fire training allows you to train more often. While not a replacement for live-fire firearm training, it’s a valuable addition. Though an effective way to improve skill, dry-fire with most semi-autos has its training issues.
Racking the slide after every trigger press to reset the hammer restricts training and can introduce undesirable habits. The Titan X not only addresses these concerns but provides advanced data driven analytics that will make you a better shooter.
A Smart, Safe and Realistic Training Tool
At the heart of the Titan X is its integration of MantisX technology. Embedded directly into the pistol, it allows users to receive real-time feedback and performance analytics without live ammunition. The Titan X offers flexibility and precision that traditional methods simply can’t match.
The pistol pairs seamlessly with the Mantis Pistol/Rifle app or the Mantis Laser Academy app for expanded training scenarios. With the apps, shooters can track progress, analyze shot placement and engage in dynamic drills. These apps are available for both iOS® and Android®, making the system accessible to virtually any shooter. Full access to the Laser Academy requires an additional purchase.

Designed for Realism and Compatibility
Patterned after Glock compatibility, the Titan X replicates the feel and function of a real firearm. It features a Glock-style trigger pull and is compatible with Glock holsters, lights and optics. The slide includes an optics-ready cut with a removable slide cover plate, allowing mounting of red-dot sights with Trijicon RMR, Shield RMS or RMSc footprints.
The pistol’s distinctive red frame clearly indicates it is a non-firing training tool. It’s an outstanding teaching tool for new or cautious shooters as it’s 100 percent safe and realistic. And you can train virtually anywhere.
Advanced Features for Enhanced Performance
Beyond its realistic design, the Titan X includes an auto-resetting trigger and a built-in red laser that activates with each pull. The laser is adjustable for windage and elevation, allowing users to set a precise point of impact and evaluate accuracy instantly.
The MantisX system uses motion sensors to detect subtle movements during shooting, transmitting data via Bluetooth to the app. The MantisX smart sensor continuously tracks the movement of the firearm before, during and after every shot. A three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer in the sensor gathers movement data during the trigger pull. It does this at a sample rate of hundreds of times per second
Shooters receive detailed diagnostics, scoring and session tracking, all in real time. They tell you what you may be doing wrong and offer suggestions on how to correct it to make you a better shooter. It has the added functionality of dynamic training and multi-shot holster draw analysis. The system also supports compatibility with Mantis BlackbeardX drills.
Practical Accessories and Power System
Each Titan X comes with two auto-detecting weighted magazines that mimic the heft of real pistol mags, enabling realistic reload drills. While the slide cannot be racked, standard Glock magazines fit the Titan X’s mag well.
Powering the device is a rechargeable battery with a USB-C port located on the slide. A color-coded LED indicator displays battery status. A charging cable is included for convenience.
Looking Ahead
Mantis has announced plans to expand the Titan X lineup with models inspired by other popular handguns. This expansion promises to bring the same high-quality training experience.
Final Thoughts
The Mantis Titan X is more than a training pistol. It’s a comprehensive system that bridges the gap between dry-fire practice and live-fire range sessions. With its realistic design, integrated analytics and commitment to safety, it sets a new standard for firearms training.
Packaged in a durable hard-shell case with fitted foam and mesh storage pockets, the Titan X is made in the USA and backed by a two-year limited warranty. For anyone serious about improving their shooting skills, the Titan X is a smart investment in safer, smarter training. The Titan X has suggested retail price of $199.00.
