Interrupt the OODA Loop

Can the power of the Holy Spirit protect you during an armed robbery? The woman in this video was surely a believer. When a robber walked in demanding money, she responded, “In the name of Jesus I command you to get out of my store!” then followed it with, “You are bound by the Holy Spirit and you are leaving.”

And he left. Maybe it was the Holy Spirit. Maybe he just got confused when things didn’t go as he had planned. This brave woman interrupted his OODA Loop and he could not get back on track. I don’t recommend facing down an armed gunman with only the power of prayer, but I certainly do recommend taking actions that interrupt an attacker’s plan and thought process. Most attackers assume you will comply. When you don’t, they have to come up with a new plan on the spot. If your refusal to comply includes rapid movement and gunfire, you suddenly have a big advantage. Whether or not you believe in the power of Jesus to stop a robber, you must admit that this woman used the most powerful tool she had at the time to interrupt this robber’s plan of attack.

Be Prepared to Fight

This was a clear case where deadly force was authorized in a self-defense incident. The woman was lucky the robber lost his composure in the face of her verbal response. I would much prefer that she had used a firearm, but her actions worked — and that’s all that matters.
