New USCCA Reciprocity Map Gets First Update

Nov. 12th, 2018

West Bend, WI

Scant days after launching a blockbuster interactive concealed carry reciprocity map, the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) made its first major update to the site as a result of important handgun legislation out of Arkansas. With the launch of the interactive site last week, the USCCA vowed to keep abreast of all major developments in concealed carry law.

Arkansas Court Rules on Permit-less Carry

After five years of uncertainty, the Arkansas Appeals Court ruled on Oct. 17 that concealed and open carry are legal without a permit in the state of Arkansas for those legally allowed to possess firearms under federal and state law. The court stated in case CR-18-353, Jamie Taff v. State of Arkansas, “Under the clear language of § 5-73- 120(a), the possessor of a handgun must have an unlawful intent to employ it as a weapon against a person in order to make that possession a criminal act.” The minimum age to open carry is 18 years old. Some areas are off-limits, including schools and bars.

Updated Map Puts Legal Info at Fingertips

More information about the new Arkansas ruling as well as complete Arkansas concealed carry rules can be found on the updated map. Each of the 50 United States has its own profile bearing important information concerning concealed carry permit laws, processes and interstate reciprocity and will be updated as the laws change over time.
