Complete the in-Person Shooting Qualification
Attend your in-person range instruction and shooting qualification from one of our top Texas Certified Instructors in the state. Once you’ve completed the qualification, you can officially file the required application for your Texas LTC with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Send Your Completed Application to the State of Texas
Once you’ve completed the online course and the in-person shooting qualification, you can officially file the required application for your Texas LTC with the Texas Department of Public Safety

Do I need to take the in-person shooting qualification?
Yes. Anyone who wants to get a License to Carry permit must successfully complete the in-person shooting qualification. You cannot just take the online course; you must complete both.
How long will it take to complete the online course?
Typically it takes about 4 to 6 hours to go through the online course, excluding any quizzes and/or exams and any studying that you choose to do.
Do I have to complete the course all at once?
You may complete the course at your own pace. The course can be completed in one sitting or completed a little at a time over several days.
Do I have to be a resident to take the Texas Concealed Carry Course
No. You do not have to be a resident of Texas to take this online course.
How long will it take to get my Texas License to Carry permit?
DPS will make every effort to issue your license within 60 days of receiving your completed application packet. If the application is incomplete or requires additional information to complete the background check, you will be notified in writing.
