150+ Lives Saved

Michigan Church Shooter Stopped by USCCA-Trained Members

“The one thing that has always been in the back of my mind: If I hear that noise [gunfire], will I run to it or will I run from it? I answered that question yesterday.”

— USCCA Member who helped stop active church shooter in Michigan

On Sunday morning, June 22, 2025, a man arrived at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, Michigan just 30 minutes after services began.

A church deacon noticed the man in the parking lot and attempted to make conversation. When the man ignored him, put on a tactical vest, and began pulling weapons from his car, the deacon retreated to his Ford F-150.

Armed with a handgun and rifle, the shooter approached the front door of the building filled with men, women, and children…

Then, the church deacon took bold, decisive action and rammed the shooter with his Ford F-150 before he could get inside. The shooter then opened fire on the deacon who was still in his truck.

That’s when two more church safety team members — both also USCCA Members — engaged the shooter with their handguns, even as the shooter fired back at them. The gunman was fatally shot during this exchange of gunfire.

The USCCA’s 860,000 members salute these heroic men who risked their own safety to save over 150 lives that day.
