Becoming a USCCA Instructor and gaining access to these materials has improved my classes and helped my business overall…
I use USCCA materials to teach concealed carry in Illinois for several reasons. The book follows the PowerPoint, the graphics and layout are quality and up to date; the material overall is much easier for students to follow and for the instructor to go through. Becoming a USCCA Instructor and gaining access to these materials has improved my classes and helped my business overall.

There is no place I would rather be teaching than alongside the instructors and staff of the United States Concealed Carry Association!
As a former police officer of 10+ years and 13 years in the private sector conducting fraud investigations and most recently as a college professor in criminal justice, I have been exposed to and used a lot of different programs for firearms education. However, it wasn’t until I found the courses offered by the USCCA that I was able to offer my students the cutting-edge information needed to make them responsibly armed citizens. There is no place I would rather be teaching than alongside the instructors and staff of the United States Concealed Carry Association!

Michael Martin’s course materials are beyond excellent…
Having been a professional trainer in industry for over 35 years, I can say without hesitation, Michael Martin's course materials are beyond excellent. Taking what can be very dry technical topics and bringing them to life is a rare skill. His emphasis and insights in the unique discipline of civilian personal defense, quite different from military/police training, are what sets the USCCA program above the rest.

Author of Concealed Carry And
Home Defense Fundamentals
After a stint in the Army and a childhood growing up around firearms, Michael Martin’s interest in firearms began to turn from sporting to personal protection, after the birth of his first son Jack, in 2003. With that major event in his life, Michael began to see himself as his family’s first responder, and he made what became not only a life changing decision, but a career changing decision as well, as he applied for his Minnesota permit to carry a firearm.Show More +
Hungry for more education and eager to help other new parents accept responsibility for the protection of their families, Michael became a certified Minnesota firearms instructor. As he began that part time career, Michael grew frustrated with the lack of instructor and student materials available, so he began creating what would eventually become the USCCA Instructor Toolkit. Michael’s first book, Minnesota Permit to Carry a Firearm Fundamentals (now in its 5th edition), quickly became the de facto standard among Minnesota instructors, and his second book, Concealed Carry Fundamentals, was soon picked up by dozens of national training organizations including Gander Mountain, who selected the book as their standard textbook for Gander Mountain Academy. Soon after, Michael ended an 18-year career in technology to became a full time instructor and author, which included writing part time for Concealed Carry Magazine.
In September of 2012, Michael formalized his relationship with the USCCA as he took on the role of Vice President of Media, where his responsibilities included the relaunch of Concealed Carry Magazine. With the successful relaunch in January of 2013 and a new design team in place headed by Executive Editor Kevin Michalowski, Michael accepted a new challenge from Tim Schmidt to launch a brand new division at the USCCA, designed to provide materials, certification, and support to the nation’s thousands of concealed carry firearms instructors.
Today, Michael is the Chief Instructor for the USCCA, managing the development of the Instructor Toolkit, and leading the new USCCA certified instructor courses being held throughout the U.S. Today, with more than 150,000 copies of Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals in the hands of responsibly armed Americans, and more than 2,000 Toolkits in the hands of firearms instructors across the U.S., Michael has become one of the most recognized and trusted voices in the firearms training world.
In addition to his work at the USCCA, Michael also proudly serves as a Lieutenant with the Woodbury Minnesota fire department. Michael lives in Woodbury with his wonderful wife Sara, and two amazing young sons, Jack and Sam.Show Less -
