Recommended by CCM Editor Kathy Jackson, Galco’s contour-cut belts have a lot going for them. “I like these belts because they are sturdy enough to hold a firearm securely, but still conform comfortably to human curves,” Kathy writes.

Galco’s contour belts are offered in 1.5-inch and 1.25-inch versions, with tapering at the buckle available for the 1.25-inch design. Constructed of and lined with premium saddle leather, the belts are given a beautifully durable finish and a nickel-plated brass buckle. At approximately $110, they are not cheap, but they are made to last. Custom sizes are available.

  1. Not do say anything against Galco, whose products get rave reviews seemingly everywhere I go, but don’t forget to check with your local leathersmith, western wear shop or saddle maker.

I picked up a great 1 1/2” wide and very, very sturdy gun belt at Jackson’s Trading Co. in Asheville, NC for $30. Jackson’s sells all kinds of ‘off the rack’ cowboy gear but also has a custom leather shop.

My new belt is plain-Jane but for a bit more money they were perfectly willing to make me something truly fancy.
