I started shooting as an activity to do with my husband when we were new empty-nesters. I quickly discovered that it made me feel capable and strong. I scoured the internet for information and jumped into all the training events I could find, then started shooting competitively. It was incredibly fun and stress-relieving, but I was often the only woman at these events, both training and competing. When I talked to my friends about coming, there was a recurring theme. They were uncomfortable training with men, or even being trained by men. Many women are frustrated because there are so few women instructors, and my husband noted that my experiences and skills would make me perfect for the job. So I accepted the challenge and became a USCCA certified instructor, providing training for women, by women.
