Additional Notes from Your Instructor

Dear Student, Thank you for choosing Top Gun Academy for your enhanced handgun permit training! These instructions will help to ensure that your permit application process runs smoothly. If you have a Tennessee driver’s license (or state-issued photo ID), then you must apply for your handgun carry permit ONLINE, and you must do so BEFORE the class. Here’s what you’ll need: • Your Tennessee Driver’s License Number (or ID #) • Your Social Security Number • The full address of every place you’ve lived for the past FIVE years (including city, state, county, zip code, and dates of residence) TO APPLY ONLINE (Must be done BEFORE class): Visit the permit application website: https:// dl.safety.tn.gov/_/ You will get an application number. Please write it down and bring it with you to class! If you are a MS resident, you do not have to apply on-line. Instead, your application is processed manually. If you already have a permit, but you are taking this course as part of your armed guard license, then there is no need to get the application number. Just inform the staff that you are in the process of obtaining the armed guard license. For class, you will also need: • A handgun (available to rent at Top Gun the day of class) • 50 rounds of ammunition (available to purchase at Top Gun the day of class) • Eye and ear protection (available to rent or purchase at Top Gun the day of class) • To wear long pants, sleeves, a hat, and closed shoes (no sandals, open toed shoes, etc.) • Do not bring multiple handguns, excess ammunition, and your magazines should be unloaded. We cannot store them for you, and you cannot have them in class. Class will begin promptly at 9:00 am. There are a few administrative things to take care of prior to class beginning. Therefore, please arrive at 8:30. Once class has started, latecomers will not be admitted, per state regulations. Per state regulations, NO ONE under the age of 16 is allowed in the classroom. You must attend 100% of the class. As we are limited in size for each class, please make every effort to attend the course you signed up for. We have limited seating and do not want to overbook classes. No one likes that. If you need to reschedule your class, it must be done one full week before the class starts. With one full week’s notice, you will be transferred into another class date without penalty. If your class is on a Saturday, you may reschedule with no fee as late as the Saturday immediately PRIOR to the date scheduled. If you need to reschedule your class less than one full week before the class, you can be transferred into another class date with a $30 fee. If you do not show up to class, or if you are so late that it is deemed that you cannot fulfill the class, there is no refund and there is no rescheduling.
