DEFENSIVE PISTOL

This course focuses on improved performance of shooting a pistol in a defensive application. Designed to teach the concealed carry civilian how to effectively defend themselves by promoting safe and effective weapons handling and refinement of practical shooting fundamentals from concealment.

• Defensive mindset / Situation Awareness
• De-escalation
• Pre-attack indicators (body language, the 45, etc.)
• Non-lethal considerations
• Tourniquet (TQ) application
• Pistol Shooting Fundamentals
• Pistol manipulation
• Weapons retention
• Defensive movement
• Close quarter engagement
• Draw & retention from IWB
• Reloading fundamentals from concealment
• Single-hand manipulation
• Strong / Support side shooting
• Cover Vs. Concealment
• Communication through self-defense situations
• Alternate shooting positions
• Moving and shooting
• Emergency reloads / Tac reloads
• Positive ID
• Carry method considerations while inside vehicle

Minimum Requirements / Prerequisites:

• Satisfactory understanding and application of safe weapons handling
• Previously taken Deliberate Concealed Carry [Pistol 1] or another “Pistol 1” level course from a reputable instructor is preferred.
• Basic / Intermediate level of shooting fundamentals, must be confident in shooting ability.
• Open mind and eagerness to learn!

Gear Requirements:

• Ammunition : 400 rds
• IWB or OWB holster (IWB preferred/recommended) *NO Leather or Nylon, NO Serpa
• Reliable Semi-auto Pistol
• At least 2-3 magazines
• Mag carrier/holster
• EDC belt
• Eyes/Ears protection
• Appropriate range attire
• Note taking material
• Water/snacks
• Permanent marker
• Medical / IFAK / Tourniquet
• Weapons maintenance / cleaning equipment
