What You'll Learn
This course will cover important self defense principles & techniques for concealed carry holders. This includes approximately 2 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of hands on practical instruction. There will be no live fire training in this course.
This is not a shooting course. This course is designed to supplement your previous firearms training & skills with hands on defensive tactics techniques in close quarters which will enable you to access and retain your weapon, or for situations where you may be unable to carry your firearm, but still may be faced with a potential deadly force threat.
During the classroom block, we will review important concepts for concealed carry holders, including physical/mental preparation and responsibilities for carrying concealed, carrying configurations, mindset & situational awareness, conflict avoidance & de-escalation, pre-assault body language indicators, and a legal issues concerning the use of force, as well as the USCCA block on Violent Encounters & Their Aftermath.
The hands on practical portion will include instruction in effective weapon retention techniques, both in and out of the holster, as well as close quarters handgun disarms.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded, but may be rescheduled for another upcoming class within a reasonable time frame, at the discretion of the instructor.
What We'll Teach
Violent Encounters and The Aftermath
This lesson explains what physical and mental reactions may occur when a human undergoes extreme stress, such as during an incident involving deadly force. It also explains what you should do immediately after using force to defend yourself. Also, when law enforcement arrives, it is crucial that you conduct yourself in the correct manner and prepare yourself for the consequences, even when you are in the right.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
No live weapons or ammo allowed in the training environment. Inert training weapons will be provided. Range attire is appropriate. We will be training on a matted surface without shoes. This class will be held at and co-hosted by Royce Gracie Academy of Lake Norman, in Denver, NC.
