What You'll Learn
Home Defense & Firearm Basics
"Home Defense & Firearm Basics" is a comprehensive firearms course designed for beginners and experienced shooters alike.
The objectives of this four-hour course are to help you understand your responsibilities when you own a gun, whether you use it for home defense. During the course, you'll learn how to use a weapon for self-defense, how to communicate with police after a weapon is used for self-defense, the physiological experiences we experience during violent acts, etc.
Additionally, firearms, in general, are covered, including how they work and how to choose the best weapon. You will learn about ammunition & caliber, proper grip, stance, sight picture, sight alignment, clearing malfunctions, etc.
Class time includes break times.
A "Completion Certificate" is issued upon completion of the test.
The topics include are:
- Responsible and ethical use of a pistol
- Protecting yourself and your home
- The basics of firearm self-defense
- Situational awareness and mental preparation to defend yourself
- Shooting fundamentals
- "Dry" fire exercises during class-time
- Violent encounters and their aftermath
- Gear for everyday carry (EDC)
This training package includes classroom and range time. Range time will be scheduled separately.
Guns and gadgets do not need to be brought to class.
** RANGE TIME**
- Range time will be scheduled separately.
- Eye and ear protection, targets, and ammunition must be brought or purchased.
- Students must also bring their own firearms. If you do not own a firearm, one will be provided. Ranges fees are not included in the price of the course.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
