What You'll Learn
This class is being offered FREE for the 8th Annual National Train a Teacher Day.
In response to mass murder events, joined with firearm safety and defensive trainers, instructors, and coaches from all across the United States have come together as a unified front to offer training free of charge to teacher, school administrators, school staff, and those that work with youth in a leadership capacity (athletic coaches, Sunday school, clergy, religious leaders). Saturday, June 21st, 2025 is declared to be the 8th Annual National Train A Teacher Day. The overall purpose of NTATD is to empower those who are entrusted with the care and education of our children and to give them the insight, knowledge, and skills to perhaps act instead of react, so that they can save lives.
We are offering you a firearms safety training class, at no cost to teachers and educators. The event is limited to individuals who safeguard our children on a daily basis. Our goal is to provide you the skills and knowledge to keep you safe in future. This training is open to women wishing to learn about firearms in a non-threating environment.
This is an opportunity to learn about firearms, how they work, the different types, as well as the opportunity to shoot them in a safe, supervised environment. In addition to firearms, you will learn about situational awareness and keeping yourself safe, pepper spray and Tasers.
The event includes free use of firearms and ammunition. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Several professional firearms instructors, many of them women are volunteering their time to assist you at this event.
This course is designed for a true beginner or one who has basic knowledge. Safely handling and shooting a handgun is an empowering experience! You'll learn the Universal Safety Rules and basic shooting fundamentals which include grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger manipulation, loading a magazine, clearing malfunctions and follow-through. Live fire will be introduced at the end of the course to provide you with a bridge between the classroom experience and the practical application.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
What We'll Teach
Basic
In this introduction module, Beth Alcazar introduces students to the basics of handgun safety, including how to safely clear (unload) a semi-automatic pistol. Alcazar goes on to explain and demonstrate the seven basic fundamentals for safe and accurate shooting. The lesson is rounded out by taking those basics, and putting them into practice both in the classroom and on the shooting range. This lesson will act as a building block as the student progresses to Women’s Intermediate Pistol.
